sailboat bottom sanding
A fresh coat of paint prevents aquatic life and barnacles from attaching to the bottom of your boat. before you can start painting, however, you need to prep the bottom of the boat by cleaning, sanding, and priming the keel. once that’s done, you just need to apply 2-4 coats of antifouling paint to the bottom.. That's an interesting concept, but like other have said vc 17 doesn't really need any sanding. i have it on my boat as well. all you need to do is rudder, keel, leading edge, and water line between coats. you are simply painting the sections of the bottom that get the most wear. then the following year repaint the whole bottom.. If you are painting a new boat for the first time, wipe down the entire bottom with a good solvent wash such as interlux 202 or pettit dewaxer to get rid of all mold release agents from the factory. to avoid just spreading the mold release agent over the hull, turn your cloth frequently and replace often with a clean cloth..
