The first dillon racing boats were created in 2006 to fill a gap in the boat plans market for small tunnel and v-bottom boats eligible for nationally sanctioned racing. the earliest designs were intended for two-cylinder power in the 25hp to 40hp range. more recently, the design collection has extended into the 40hp to 80hp range.. I designed the dillon mini tunnel in 2005 because there was nothing on the plans market that could pass for a serious, small racing tunnelboat. i raced that boat in our mini gt class in 2006, won nearly all the races, and captured the highpoints championship.. The pm-38 plans for the "pm-38" free motorboat plan first appeared in the august 1962 issue of the "popular mechanics" magazine. it was named the pm 38 because the magazine claimed that it could, not only be built in 38 hours, for a materials cost of a mere $38 (1962 prices) but would, when launched, do 38 mph.the one pictured was built by mark, in harpers ferry, west virginia..
